Howard Hampton's visit to Guelph, video footage

Firstly, I need to apologize for not having posted enough during the past month. Not only have I been wrestling with Blogging Dippers 2.0, but I've been jumping into my new role as Riding Association President for the Guelph NDP.

While things have been incredibly busy for the Guelph NDP, the work has been equally as satisfying. That is in large part because the executive is incredibly resourceful and competent, and I'm truly excited to work with them!

Call out to name the Predators!

This weekend, I'm away from Guelph once more. This time, I'm hanging out with my brother Neil and his girlfriend Terry who have been living in Korea for the better part of three years.

Brent Barr, standing up for... wait a minute!

Conservative candidate for Guelph has recently used the "internets" to broadcast this latest message. He attempted a blog last year. This year it seems he's going for more depth in his content. If it should become a political liability in the next few days or weeks, he may take it down-- I will oblige and post it in full here:

Tom King Considering Guelph NDP Candidacy

I can't really post about this too much right now, as it's quite late. I've been working with an awesome Riding Association executive to pull things together, and seeing the fruits of that labour come about is really quite exciting. Please consider writing Tom King expressing your support and excitement for his nomination.

Guelph errant puck death should not stop hockey

I wanted to quickly post this, as I was amazed at how many people would be hesitant to play hockey! With all due respect I won't have any part of this kind of knee-jerk response to what seems to have been a freak accident. It's always important to be mindful of safety when playing, but I was a little creaped out to hear some folks were not going near pucks!

Chike, you had to ask didn't you?!

So I have to say, I consider many people on the "other side of the floor" in political youth organizations to be friends. I don't have hangups about disagreeing with good people. My friend Chike is one of such friends. Chike is somewhat of a spokesperson for the Ontario Young Liberals, and in all fairness, his "about me" rant against tomorrow's rally deserves some digesting.

Guelph votes 2006: Change is in the air... this is only the beginning

June HoflandLast night I capped off the municipal election for Guelph by working an e-day hub for the Karen Farbridge campaign.

Leanne PiperI had originally intended to limit my participation, on account of my job, and on account of the fact that I'd been holding down the NDP fort, while the rest of the Executive were working for the elections. However, when I got word that there was help needed for e-day, and considering it was on the weekend that I would be most needed, I couldn't resist. I was working mostly with my compatriots from the NDP, but there were many who helped from the Liberal and Green parties. After-hours, it was mostly an NDP campaign, and reminded me of the Federals.
