July 10th: the day Jack Layton becomes Prime Minister in waiting
Jack Layton closes the Facebook gap to 400
As of today, NDP Leader Jack Layton is officially within 400 supporters of the front runner Stéphane Dion and closing quickly. It seems everytime an email blasts hits with his facebook link people jump on board.
Interesting link
Just a quick note for those who are interested in the e.NDP newsletter. I've uncovered a complete archive online going back to December 2004 (presumably the first one sent out). Hopefully they'll keep the permissions such that we can look back (no harm in that, right?).
Front Page: American-Style Canadian Politics
One of the main undercurrent's of the Liberal Party message against the Conservatives has been their inference of Harper's ties to American style politics. It's hard to imagine a party such as the Liberals holding any sort of credibility on the matter of Canadian sovereignty, but nevertheless they plug away at the "All Canadians are Liberals at heart" scheme.
What's becoming clear now is that while the Conservatives perhaps engage primarily in American style policy, the Liberals are now engaging in American-style politics.
The view from here: what 20% looks like for a New Democrat
From a Toronto Star poll with an astonishingly small margin of error, the NDP broke the illusive 20% range. Notwithstanding freak polls, and the regular up and downs of political polling in Canada it's important to note that the party has been playing it's cards right.
I won!
Thanks for those who supported me in my bid for re-election as New Democrats Online admin. I think we have a great team to work with, and we can continue to keep the community strong and growing!
Dalton.ca buggers up the TTC... I think
Here I was about to write a solidarity post about the TTC workers, when Dalton.ca McGuinty stole the spotlight . In a bogus attempt to obscure a legitimate strike, he wants to declare the whole system an essential service. So I guess that means the TTC workers have lost, management wins? Well...
Green-Democrats: I stand by my blog post.
I've recently been asked to join a Facebook group called "NDP-Green Cooperation - NOW!", and I feel compelled to prevent people from coyly snooping through the backpages of my blog to find out what I've said before on the subject (this is me being sacrastically egocentric).
Re-elect Ravi Joshi for New Democrats Online Administrator
Dear Sisters and Brothers, Consoeurs et Confrères,
Can Jack Overtake Dion in Facebook Supporters?
It's a game called lets embarrass the Liberal Party!
In the words of Captain Planet (A hero of mine):
"The power is yours!"
As of today (I won't bother citing a specific time as the numbers are constantly changing), Jack is within 550 supporters on Facebook from Stéphane Dion's ~10'700. The two are clearly in front of Stephen Harper who is in third place at ~8000 and Elizabeth May at 1700. Gilles Duceppe is at ~650 which is only ~120 more than Tom King.
Proudly no longer "other"; Facebook updates profile options!
After garnering a membership of 14'000, along with countless other groups directed at getting Facebook to allow for more than the standard, listed political views, I have triumphantly left the group of By "Other" I mean "Socialist".
I'm now proud to say my political views are listed as "Eco-Socialist".
